New hotel brand to replace Four Seasons Hotel at Pacific Centre

New hotel a “leading global hotel and entertainment brand”

The owners of CF Pacific Centre, Cadillac Fairview, announced Wednesday that the soon-to-be vacant Four Seasons Hotel tower will be rebranded with a new “lifestyle hotel brand.”

Cadillac Fairview says the new hotel will be “a new hospitality and entertainment offering reflective of Vancouver’s current stature as a premier tourism and business destination.”

The Four Seasons Hotel will close at the end of January 2020.

“With today’s announcement we are once again contributing to the fabric of the city by introducing an exciting and vibrant hospitality concept to our landmark property that will solidify it as the destination of choice in downtown Vancouver,” said Tom Knoepfel, senior vice-president, western portfolio at Cadillac Fairview.

“CF Pacific Centre will be home to a leading global hotel and entertainment brand that will be unique not only in Vancouver, but the rest of Canada. We look forward to providing more details about this exciting project in the near future,” added Knoepfel.

There’s no timeline yet as to when the new hotel brand would begin operating, or if any renovations will be undertaken.

A Cadillac Fairview spokesperson told urbanYVR they’ve had discussions “with a number of [hotel] brands.”

Riu Hotels and W are said to be actively looking for hotel locations in downtown Vancouver.

Pacific Centre opened in 1971, followed by the 30-storey TD Tower in 1972. The 30-storey Four Seasons Hotel tower opened in 1976 and was renovated in 2010.

Cadillac Fairview says “preliminary work” will commence in Spring 2020.

In addition to the hotel announcement, Cadillac Fairview is currently redeveloping CF Pacific Centre’s rotunda, located at West Georgia and Howe Streets, creating a new 14,000 square foot, two-storey pavilion, housing “premier retail brands” — one of which is rumoured to be an Apple store.
