Pink Palace in West Vancouver to be demolished: report
West Vancouver’s iconic “Pink Palace” — a brightly painted 15-storey apartment building on the waterfront — could soon be facing the wrecking ball.
A West Vancouver-based online media outlet is reporting that the Villa Maris – better known as the “Pink Palace,” could be demolished by 2026 and replaced with a new condominium tower. Residents at 2222 Bellevue Avenue were reportedly informed earlier this month in a letter from the building’s owner.
The building was most recently assessed in 2019 at $74,855,000.
The same owners also own the Shoreline Apartments, and also plan to demolish that building before the Pink Palace, according to the report. The Shoreline Apartments will be replaced by new rental housing, including rental housing for civic staff, as early as 2025.
An open house for the redevelopment is expected to be held soon.
